Homemade Fruit Snacks Ingredients
- Fruit– You can use any fresh fruit of choice for these gummies— like raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, peaches— you name it! I love to prep a few separate batches with different fruits to have multiple fruit snack flavors. You can also use frozen fruit if that’s all you have on hand.
- Honey– This homemade fruit snacks recipe is naturally sweetened with honey. You can also use maple syrup as another healthy, unrefined sugar option.
- Gelatin– Gelatin powder is what gives these fruit snacks their gummy, chewy texture. I recommend getting a grass-fed gelatin powder for the best quality flavor, and to reap the healthy benefits of gelatin— which is a great source of collagen and amino acids that are beneficial for our skin, joints, bones, and gut.
- Water– Water is used to help blend the fruit into a smooth puree. Opt for filtered or distilled water.
How to Make Homemade Fruit Snacks
1. Add the fruit and water to a blender or a food processor and puree until smooth.
2. Combine the fruit puree and honey in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir occasionally, until the mixture is warm but not boiling.
3. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the warm fruit mixture while whisking continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Whisk until the gelatin completely dissolves and the mixture is smooth.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes.
5. Pour the mixture into silicone molds. You can also use a shallow dish lined with parchment paper if you do not have silicone molds.
6. Place the molds (or dish) into the refrigerator and let the gummies set for at least two hours or until firm.
7. Once the gummies are set, remove them from the molds. (If using a dish, cut them into your desired shapes.)
8. Store the gummies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
